You have landed at Ngurah Rai International Airport. Its hot and its really buzzing.
Exiting through the terminal doors you are faced with a sea of people holding name signs and if you have planned correctly with careful study your name is one of them. Make eye contact with your driver to let him know you and meet him out the other side.
Watch your bags there are heaps of people there just to ask to carry your bags and you must tip them at the end. Firmly but politely say “No Thank you”.
Please note they are not affiliated with your driver and or hotel.
It is really important when booking any type of accommodation that you have them include your transfers to and from the airport.
Welcome to Bali 🙂
I am asked all the time is it safe. Is it a place for families and my answer to all is yes.
Bali is like anywhere you travel whether it be here at home or internationally. Do your research.
Before booking a place look on the map or google earth the place.
Check the reviews on the internet and through TripAdvisor
Check areas. This is wholly dependent on why are you going. What things are you wanting to do?
If you are going for specific reasons such as shopping, diving, surfing, snorkeling or hiking or a little of all of this there are areas better suited for accommodation.
Its also good to note that your accommodation wherever it is will be able to organise any sorts of days trips for a minimal price.
Ok my favourite area first lol.
I love Seminyak because it is not Kuta but its is an easy walk through down to Kuta if you want and its a quick Taxi ride out to retreat back out of the madness.
Seminyak is a colourful, cosmopolitan and easy going area. It is hip and chilled and also very vibrant.
I like to call it “Chilled Sophistication” its my “Uptown Splurge” lol.
Seminyak is home to some of the most fashionable resorts, art galleries and fabulous restaurants. It is home to the famous Eat Street.
Seminyak is great for all types of travellers and all types of budgets. Families, couples, singles and groups. It has it all.
I have a real passion for Ubud. It is laid back and soo relaxing.
The scenery is beautiful and depending where you stay in Ubud ohhh sooo healing and soul nourishing.
Remember Eat Pray Love?
That’s Ubud. Idyllic.
It is in fact the cultural capital of Bali in my opinion. It is the soul of Bali and for those seeking peace, harmony and balance in their busy life this is a must stay over on any trip.
Cosy cafes, fabulous restaurants. Art galleries and museums. It is home to the most beautiful terraced rice paddies.
It is also home to some of the most exclusive resorts. And of course the world famous Sacred Monkey Forest.
There is so much more to these 2 areas but where is the fun in me telling you everything. The fun is in the researching the planning and the going 🙂
Next blog I will cover the areas of the North west, Amed and Candidasa.
Enjoy reading and bye for now.
